it's About...

Greetings from your friendly neighborhood Rogue and Poet.

A few of years back I got into blogging, I taught myself enough code to create a web page, and had a wonderful experience connecting with others on the web and just getting myself out there. For a good while I was posting three or more posts a day and really developing a following. Then at some point I simply soured on politics. I guess I had said everything I wanted to say and researched every angle there was. The result is that my blog has been virtually silent for a couple of years now. Over that time I've been searching for a niche, for a type of project that I could throw myself into and just have fun with. That's why I'm building /creating rogueandpoet.com.

The main feature of the site is the right sidebar where I have the Rogue's Gallery. Here are listed local Rogue Valley artists, musicians, authors and poets. I'm profiling each and every artist on the list, getting a bit of their back story and providing links to their websites or contact information. The fun is in meeting the folks and hearing their stories and then chronicling them on the site. The site is new and I've got lots of work to do but for the first time in about two years I'm energized about an internet related project.

I do have a plan for this site. For artists and venues that show or hire artists, this site is free. I'm hoping that in the future I can show enough traffic on the site to create interest among advertisers. I also want to create a gift shop on this site where people can purchase the works, CD's or books of local artists.

What I want to provide to users is the most thorough listing of local events and performances available anywhere. I want people to come to my site when they are wondering what to do or where to go in the Rogue Valley for entertainment.

I also want to include local input on the site. I would love for individuals to submit reviews of the shows they see that I could post on this site. That type of exchange just helps to create interest in the local experience, and it's in the development of that interest where we all benefit.
