Chase'n the Blues

Chase'n the Blues cover

Dave Vestny's stopped by to set me up with this gem. The band Chase'n the Blues had a good run as the areas pre-eminent local blues band. The band disbanded a couple of years back for the very worst of reasons. They lost one of their own, bassist Paul Kruger. Rather than replace their friend the band disbanded. All of the members have moved on to new projects but there is something left that is notable… their CD! - !!!Good Boy!!!

There's a good stack of these available and the hope is we can move them out. The cost is discounted - profits will go to a good cause and the music is just great work by great musicians. So...

Daughters of Zion

We've all heard of polygamy, we know that in certain secluded enclaves it is still practiced. Did you know that it's moved out of Utah? That some of the "Profits" behind the practice have found safe sanctuary south of the border? In her new book Daughters of Zion published in November of 2008, local author Kim Taylor takes us into a world she knows and a culture she was raised in. This her story, and her insights into this different life are detailed and brutally honest. Here's what others are saying:

"It was curiosity about polygamy that led me to pick up this book, but it is the author's craft at story-telling that made it impossible to put down. Kim's honest, riveting portrayal is both intriguing and inspiring."...Mary Ann Cook, Author of Honey, I'm Home for Good!

"An unbelievable story, told with compassion. Taylor is a natural story-teller. I couldn't put it down!"...C. Hewitt, columnist, Author of Parenting Through the Eyes of a Child

"Kim Taylor is a gifted story-teller and what a story she tells in 'Daughters of Zion'!"...David Kupelian, managing editor WorldNetDaily.com, Author of The Marketing of Evil

The Book that Started it All

Rogue and Poet Book 1

Rogue and Poet Book 1

Sort of the untold story. About a year ago I wrote a bunch of poems and compiled the best of them into a book. Now what? Out of that question came the idea of rogueandpoet.com - the idea being if I have a website that people come to - then some will see and buy the book.

I make no claims of being a great poet but as regards the book I am proud of it. I think there are poems in it that are good and none that embarrass me. These poems are personal but not as esoteric or self-absorbed as I find much modern poetry to be. You'll find humor - hope and sincerity in it's pages.

Cost $10.00 plus $2.00 shipping - Total $12.00

Shout Back - from Broadway Phil and the Shouters

Released late in 2008 this CD features 10 songs penned by Phil Newton. It's classic original Rhythm and Blues, not heavy but earthy and real. Phil's vocals add a unique depth, and every song works from theferocious harmonica/slide roar of Train and the Bo Diddley poetry of Diamonds to the twilight guitar lament of Been and Gone, "Shout Back" aims straight for the heart.

Recorded at Hartkop Productions in Southern Oregon,"Shout Back" features spare, slightly-vintage production, with the basic tracks recorded live. The crystaline "Hartkop Reverb" enhances the roots stylings of "Shout Back," taking the listener on a journey back to the future.

Cost $15.00
